ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence chatbot. It was developed by US tech company OpenAI, and was launched in November 2022. It quickly gained lots of attention for its detailed, simple responses. Thanks to ChatGPT’s incredible popularity, OpenAI is now valued at around US$29 billion.

ChatGPT can be used for many things, including answering questions, writing poetry and prose, or even playing simple games like tic-tac-toe. It was trained by humans in its core function: to copy human conversation. Its knowledge, however, is taken from the internet, and isn’t always correct. Fans praise its human-like responses and wide-ranging abilities, while critics note its uneven factual accuracy.
