Nora: … Awards season has begun! Roving reporter Max McGrath joins us live from Los Angeles, USA, where they’re busy getting ready for the 65th annual Grammy Awards! Max?

Max: Thanks Nora. I’m here on stage at one of the Grammys’ favorite venues: the Crypto.com Arena, where the show will be held. I’m joined by awards-show envelope stuffer, Trudy Pie. Trudy, welcome!

Trudy: Thank you Max!

Max: This is where the envelopes are opened, and the winners get their awards.

Trudy: It is!

Max: And you’re an ‘envelope stuffer’ … what is that?

Trudy: Well, my job is to put the right names into the right envelopes, so all the right people take home all the right awards …

Max: Right! That sounds tricky …

Trudy: Tricky?

Max: Difficult.

Trudy: Well, it’s not just me, thank goodness!

Max: Let’s talk about some of the awards …

Trudy: I can’t tell you who wins, you know!

Max: I know, no spoilers here! So, some new awards have been added this year, right?

Trudy: Yes. There are five new ones: ‘Best Alternative Music Performance’; ‘Best Americana Performance’; ‘Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical’; ‘Best Spoken Word Poetry Album’; and finally, ‘Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media’.

Max: Phew! That’s a lot to remember!

Trudy: It is!

Max: Those are all the new awards, plus we have the ‘big four’! Always my favorite part of the Grammys.

Trudy: Me too, they’re so exciting! Those four awards are ‘Album of the Year’; ‘Record of the Year’; ‘Song of the Year’; and ‘Best New Artist’.

Max: How do they decide the winners?

Trudy: They have to pick based on quality. That means they have to choose the best artists. They can’t just vote for their best friends!

Max: Can you give us any hints? Just tell us one winner …

Trudy: No Max!

Max: Gah! So close. Well, what else can we look forward to this year?

Trudy: South African comedian Trevor Noah is hosting again. Also, Beyoncé is nominated lots this year, she’s up for 9 awards! That makes her the most nominated female artist ever!
