Today’s Topic is: Summer Health! Chuck: Fantastic … Will, Ting, I’ll give you a word, you give us a definition. First correct answer wins. Fingers on buzzers. Ready? … Word one: ‘Monkeypox’ Ting. Ting: You know Chickenpox and Smallpox? Chuck: Yes … Ting: Well, it’s like them, but it turns you into a monkey! Chuck: Haha! Wrong answer, but I like the way you think! Will, wanna give it a try? Will: It’s a virus, Chuck. Spread from animals to humans Chuck: Correct! Sally? Sally: You were close, Ting! Monkeypox is a lot like Smallpox, but it’s harder to get and much less severe. Symptoms include a high temperature, aches, chills, and a rash Chuck: Word two: ‘Symptoms’ Ting. Ting: When you have a fever or feel dizzy or something, it’s all signs from your body telling you you’re sick Chuck: Correct! One point each. Sally? Sally: The WHO has labelled the current Monkeypox outbreak a global health emergency. Anyone with low immunity should be extra careful Chuck: Word three: ‘Immunity’ Ting Will: It’s a word to describe how good your body is at fighting disease and infection Chuck: Correcticus Potts! Sally: Other common summer illnesses in Taiwan to be wary of include Dengue Fever and Japanese Encephalitis, which are both spread through mosquito bites, and of course, the coronavirus.
